About Ashlyn
Ask Ashlyn is a text message-based news service for people overwhelmed by the news. Think of me as the buffer between hard news and easy delivery.
Hi! I’m Ashlyn, your journalist friend 👋🏼
My news background started with the Investigative Unit at NBC Bay Area, where I conducted data analysis for a Peabody and duPont award-winning series when I was 20. Then I became a broadcast producer at KGTV in San Diego and snagged an Emmy nomination. Wanting to know more about the digital-media landscape, I shifted focus to learn about audience engagement before rejoining the journalism industry. Along the way, I became a yoga teacher and saw the thread between mindfulness and intentional news consumption.
More than half of Americans say the news stresses them out. Even as a career journalist, I feel overwhelmed by it too. With Ask Ashlyn, I help you understand what’s going on and frame the tough stuff with tips on how to keep yourself mentally well. Staying up to date shouldn’t affect your mental health.
I don’t just tell you the news. I support you through it, like any good friend would.
If you’ve ever felt like the news cycle is too much to handle, subscribe and see what it’s all about. Talk to you soon! 💖
